Bahrain is poised to become a major hub for developing regional capability in the energy industry, according to Edutech, a leading provider of educational solutions and services. With the country's gas production expected to climb to 15 billion cu. meters by 2014 to 2016, and projection that the country will account for 0.39 percent of Middle East regional oil demand by 2013, energy companies are taking strides in developing a more competent workforce.

In line with its support for Bahrain's vision, Edutech brings to the Kingdom 'DSS-100 Dynamic Simulator System' and 'Industrial Technologies Curriculum,' two cutting-edge solutions focused on the teaching and training needs of the oil, gas and petrochemicals sector.

The 'DSS-100 Dynamic Simulator System' is interactive and dynamic, with real-time process Operator Training Simulator (OTS) software, wherein trainees can practice prior to working on the real process systems. The solution simulates exercises, and allows instructors to create faults or errors in the system for trainees to identify. Designed to run on a standalone PC or a network, DSS-100 incorporates a simulator's intuitive interface, which facilitates 'point and click' access to virtually every feature in the simulator.

"We support Bahrain's efforts to build a fully skilled and efficient national workforce and our awareness initiatives for technology-driven science solutions are specifically designed to provide a link to the chain of knowledge by educating the new batch of professionals," said ASF Karim, CEO, Edutech. "In line with this, we are constantly seeking opportunities to showcase the importance of technology-powered solutions and their potential to further boost competency levels across upstream, midstream and downstream operations in the Kingdom.

Another high-impact eLearning tool for the Oil and Gas sector is 'Industrial Technologies Curriculum,' a dynamic, comprehensive training solution designed to take the learner through the academic learning process to hands-on and on-site training. The solution covers all major disciplines including industrial maintenance, industrial electricity, management, safety, soft skills and oil and gas production, among others.

"By offering the right technology-driven solutions to improve processes, increase efficiency and bridge the competency gap, we are realizing our goal of contributing to the productivity of regional oil and gas companies' operations, including the implementation of human capital and talent management solutions. Currently, we are working with national universities, colleges and institutes from the region as well as international training and education providers to add real value to the development of national skills," concluded Karim.
