PENGASSAN & Shell to Begin Negotiations on Monday

Negotiations to end an administrative strike between PENGASSAN and Shell are likely to being Monday, according to a Shell spokesperson. A meeting between management and workers at Shell Group unit is in the works today (Monday), said the Shell official. Nigerian White-collar union PENGASSAN walked out Wednesday of last week to protest a restructuring they think will cut into their jobs and chances for promotion. Shell offices in Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt have been shut down since the strike, now in its fourth working day. But despite threats by the striking members of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria to cut into Shell's production during the weekend, pumping at oil wells and exports continued as normal.
