Fugro Robertson, one of the world's leading geoscience companies providing services and products to the upstream oil and gas industry, is announcing an alliance with EnviroGene, a molecular diagnostics company enabling informed capital expenditure for the management of essential natural resources.
Under the terms of the alliance, Fugro Robertson will provide access to markets, sample collections and expertise. EnviroGene will provide sample preparation, laboratory analysis and data interpretation and reporting. The alliance has an initial term of one year, and provides Fugro Robertson exclusive access to PetroGene™ in North Western Europe, and non-exclusive rights outside of this territory
PetroGene has been designed and developed to complement seismic and standard geochemical approaches, to improve the success rate of exploratory oil and gas drilling. The technique identifies soil microbial populations metabolising hydrocarbons that have risen to the surface from underground reservoirs. As soil microbial activity can abolish hydrocarbon signatures, the PetroGene gene presence and expression tests are a valuable tool in the exploration of oil and gas fields.
Commenting on the alliance, Mark Chadwick, CEO of EnviroGene, said, "We are delighted to be working with Fugro Robertson, a key player in the market. Our alliance is an important validation of the value that PetroGene brings to oil and gas prospecting, and marks a critical step in the commercialization of the technology."
Guy Oliver, Director, Fugro Robertson, said, "I am looking forward to working with the team at EnviroGene and enhancing Fugro's offering through the addition of PetroGene. This new technology is highly complementary to Fugro's strategy of providing comprehensive analysis and data packages to our clients."
