Rope access specialists for decommissioning and integrity services, AquaTerra Solutions, is set to invest nearly £3 million over the next year for its new custom-built headquarters and training facilities on the outskirts of Aberdeen.
Formed 5 years ago by Pete Robinson, Ged Riley, James Grosset and Elaine Pacitti, AquaTerra provides specialist access and training solutions to the oil and gas industry and has grown into a £8.5 million annual turnover enterprise.
AquaTerra Director, Pete Robinson, said, "Since launching the business we have overcome many challenges which have been met head on by our hard working and resourceful staff. In the current economic climate it is important for businesses to work and develop ways to secure and grow their future as well as continue to bring growth to local area."
The company employs around 15 office staff and about 50 contract workers. It is based in Stoneywood in Aberdeen, but intends to move to Midmill Industrial Estate, at Kintore, in around a year.
The 2.5 acre site at Midmill Industrial Estate, Kintore contains 10,000 sq foot of training facilities and 5,000 sq foot of office space.
The training facilities, which include specially designed areas for simulating work-at-height, confined spaces, along with a comprehensive rigging loft and lifting frames, will allow AquaTerra to expand its range of accredited courses.
The new office will house the company's growing operations team and further progress their work at height and rope access related services including NDT/Inspection, maintenance, construction and decommissioning services.
Pete added, "Moving to purpose-built headquarters marks the start of a new chapter in the AquaTerra story and signifies our confidence in future growth and achievements as we get ready to expand our team and consolidate our success in new international markets."
This announcement comes as AquaTerra Solutions is also celebrating reaching the finals for the Business Success over 3 years and the Employer of the Year for this year's Grampian Business Awards.
Commenting, Ged Reilly said, "Reaching the finals is not only a great honour for us personally but also a hallmark of all the hard work which the entire team has put in over the last five years and it is a fantastic achievement to be recognised in this way.
"Both our new move and the awards must be seen as very positive for both our current employees and those looking to join us."
