Global offshore accommodation specialist HB Rentals has scored a (GBP) £400,000 (US $650,000) deal with Maersk in the North Sea.
HB Rentals has delivered five of its standard-setting Safe Area A60-rated DNV, IMO and SOLAS accredited modules to the Maersk Curlew FPSO on an initial six month contract.
The cabins, configured as three 32ft x 11ft accommodation modules with capacity for 12 staff, and two 20ft x 8ft engineering cabins equipped as offices, were prepared for delivery to the FPSO at short-notice from HB Rentals' growing fleet of assets based in Aberdeen.
HB Rentals is currently investing £10million in constructing 50 new modules for use throughout the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, bringing its fleet to more than 300 cabins.
George Emslie, regional director of HB Rentals, said, "This is our third ongoing contract with Maersk and we are delighted to have had our capabilities tested in delivering modules to clients' specifications at short notice.
"Through our ongoing investment in our rental fleet, which has improved our capabilities in providing and delivering on-demand, we were able to configure and deliver the accommodation which Maersk required very quickly.
"At present the fleet has developed to the point where we can turn around virtually any rental order in a very short space of time -- the cabins are ready-built and certified for transportation and installation."
HB Rentals has more than doubled the size of its office and manufacturing base at Howe Moss Drive at Dyce, Aberdeen in the last year as it responds to rising demand throughout the UKCS, Caspian, Africa and Middle East.
HB Rentals' cabins provide staff with safe-area working conditions and can be configured for almost any kind of use -- from equipment room to laboratory, workstation, office facilities and even a galley.
The firm provides full certification, modification and on-site installation and hook-up services, as well as ongoing maintenance support for its modules throughout the region.
