CGGVeritas Oman Crew Set Safety Milestone, Production Record

CGGVeritas announced that Ardiseis, its regional joint venture with TAQA in Oman and the wider Middle East region, achieved a double milestone with its Oman land acquisition crew who completed five years without a Lost Time Incident (LTI) during a month in which they also broke the record for most vibrating points (VPs) in a single day. On August 18th a world-record figure of 17,011 VPs was achieved, contributing to an unmatched weekly average of 15,500 VPs per day.

Ardiseis worked in close partnership with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to meet the challenging productivity and quality expectations. The crew's 24/7 operations combined with their design and planning experience and expertise to provide unmatched technical excellence and deliver optimum results.

These unique quality and performance successes are being complemented by similar excellence in HSE. The Oman crew has now delivered nearly 6 million man-hours (based on 12-hour days) without an LTI, and is currently operating with 25,000 channels and moving over 32,000 receivers per day. The crew is also the first to implement the production and quality-enhancing updates provided by the Sercel 428XL recording system and VE464 vibrator electronics.

Luc Benoit-Cattin, President, Geophysical Services, CGGVeritas, commented, "The results being achieved by the Ardiseis crew in Oman are powerful endorsements of their resources and their commitment to excellence in quality, productivity and HSE. To achieve this success consistently is a testament to the meticulous planning and execution by the crew. This has combined with the ceaseless adoption of the latest technologies and a constant dialogue with clients to best meet their needs."
