StatoilHydro Taps Navion Europa Vessel for Use at Volve Field

StatoilHydro has been granted consent to use Volve with the vessel Navion Europa for storage of stabilized oil. The consent applies to changes in the operational conditions for the Volve field during the period from September 1 to October 15, 2009.

Volve is an oil field located in the southern part of the North Sea, approximately eight kilometers north of Sleipner Ost. The water depth in the area is approximately 80 meters.

The field has been developed with the jackup Maersk Inspirer, and StatoilHydro has been granted consent to use Volve with the vessel Navion Saga for storing oil.

The main classification of Navion Saga is due on October 1, 2009. Consequently, the vessel must leave the field for a period of approximately one month to go into dry dock.

StatoilHydro wants to maintain production during this docking period, and therefore wants to use the replacement vessel Navion Europa.
