Welltec announced today its continued focus on North American shale activity by opening an operating facility in the Marcellus Shale region. Welltec, an international oil and gas service provider, with eight different locations across the US, Canada and thirty-five worldwide, recognizes the growth opportunity in the Appalachian basin due to the areas increasing horizontal drilling activity.
Welltec provides wire-line deployed conveyance technologies for horizontal and deviated wells. Welltec's self-propelled robotic technology known as the "Well Tractor" assists operators in deploying intervention tools in oil and gas wells without the use of drill pipe or coil tubing. This unique service helps to optimize oil and gas production, while furthering their client’s efforts to reduce environmental risks, fuel consumption and carbon footprints.
"We have many pre-existing relationships with clients already drilling in the Marcellus. Due to our recent increase in activity, we feel now is the time to establish ourselves in the region," said Gregg Lindstrom Vice President of North and Central America for Welltec Inc.
In addition to Well Tractor technology, Welltec will be providing a mechanical services platform in the region due to the various completion methods used throughout the Appalachian Basin.
"We will focus on the Marcellus, however other formations such as the Lower Huron and CBM present the opportunity for Welltec's wire-line deployed cleaning and milling technology" said Bob Joyce, US Sales Manager for Welltec, Inc.
Welltec is currently operating in the Marcellus Shale region and will add additional assets along with staff by September, 2009.
