Turkmenistan Invites Austrian Cos to Take Part in Oil Projects

The second session of the joint Turkmen-Austrian economic cooperation commission was held in the Austrian capital, Vienna on July 28. A Turkmen delegation headed by the chairman of the Trade and Industry Chamber of Turkmenistan,. P. Taganow, went there under an instruction of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to take part in the session.

Partnership in the strategically important energy sphere was among key topics discussed during the talks. This is caused by the interest of the Austrian side to Turkmenistan's huge hydrocarbon reserves as well as by the growing interest of the European community in the Turkmen energy supplies.

The Turkmen side, in particular, has invited the Austrian firms and companies to take part in the implementation of mutually beneficial projects for providing services to the oil and gas sector as well as for exploration and extraction of oil and natural gas in the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian based on the product sharing agreement.
