Noble Corp. Names New Sr. Vice President of Operations

Noble Corporation announced that D.E. "Don" Jacobsen has been named as Senior Vice President -- Operations, effective July 30, 2009. Immediately prior to joining Noble, Jacobsen served as Vice President, Global Drilling and Completions with Hess Corporation, a global integrated energy company engaged in exploration and production activities worldwide. In that capacity, Jacobsen was responsible for increasing organizational capability, promoting a culture of safety and health and ensuring operational excellence in that company's operating areas which among others include the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Denmark, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia.

Williams, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Don is a hands-on, results oriented leader with a deep commitment to safety, experienced in virtually every aspect of offshore operations. His in-depth knowledge of our customers' expectations, as well as our current and potential areas of operations makes him a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our business."

Before joining Hess, Jacobsen served as Vice President, Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Sustainable Development at Shell International E&P. In this role, Don was responsible for global exploration, health, safety, security and environmental protection activities and improvement efforts. He was elevated to that position in 2006, after serving for three years as Vice President, Global Wells. Jacobsen started his oilfield career with Shell in 1981 and worked primarily in the drilling and completions sector of the business.

Jacobsen also was a member of the Board of Enventure Global Technology, an oilfield service company that provides expandable tubular technology to the industry, and is a member of the Board of the Offshore Energy Center/Ocean Star Museum in Galveston. He attended both the United States Coast Guard Academy and Virginia Tech, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in civil engineering in 1981.
