ADCO Begins Development of the Huwaila Field

The Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations, or ADCO, has begun work to develop a new onshore oilfield, Huwaila, for production of up to 10,000 barrels per day of oil by 2006.

Veco Engineering has been awarded the front end engineering and design contract for the development of the field. "The FEED has been awarded to Veco Engineering," a senior Adco official said, adding that commercial bids will now be evaluated.

The Huwaila field is located approximately 30 kilometers south of the Bu Hasa field, is being developed for a target plateau rate of 10,000 bpd of oil from the Shuaiba Unit H reservoir by 2006.

Additional wells (including water injection facilities) are scheduled in 2007 as a contingency. The reservoir fluids are being exported to Bu Hasa production facilities. A multi-phase pump trial at Huwaila began on a new appraisal/oil producer development well.
