Abducted Nigerian ChevronTexaco Worker Released

The Nigerian oil worker that was kidnapped last week has been released, according to a spokesman from ChevronTexaco. The threat of strike by oil union PENGASSAN has ended with the return of the employee.

The missing worker, a member of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria and who worked in the company's Government and Public Affairs Department, had been handed to a community leader. He in turn handed the worker over to the governor of the Delta State. "The strike is no longer necessary," Pengassan General Secretary Bayo Olowoshile said.
