Keppel has appointed Mr. Alvin Yeo, Senior Partner of WongPartnership LLP, to the Board of Directors with effect from June 1, 2009. Mr. Yeo will be a non-executive, independent Director on the Board.
A Member of Parliament of Singapore, Mr. Yeo brings with him extensive experience in the area of litigation in banking and corporate disputes, construction and civil engineering projects as well as arbitration proceedings both in Singapore and in Asia.
Welcoming Mr. Alvin Yeo to the Board, Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chief Executive Officer, Keppel Corporation, said, "We are privileged to have Alvin join us on the Board. His wealth of experience and expertise in arbitration and corporate law, together with his in-depth knowledge of the legal services sector in Singapore, will contribute to the Board's strategic governance of the Group."
Between 2002 and 2007, Mr. Yeo served on a number of committees which undertook comprehensive reviews of Singapore's legal services sector and which reported to the Singapore Government with proposals for reform. Mr. Yeo is the Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Home Affairs and Law. He also serves on the Appeals Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Mr. Yeo graduated from King's College London, University of London, and was admitted to the English Bar in 1987 and the Singapore Bar in 1988. In January 2000, Mr. Yeo became the youngest lawyer to be appointed Senior Counsel.
