US Coast Guard Investigates Fire on Offshore Supply Vessel in GOM

An explosion Thursday morning aboard an offshore supply vessel caused injuries to two crew members, reports the US Coast Guard.

The US Coast Guard responded to a call from an offshore oil rig at Eugene Island on Thursday reporting that two crewmembers on board the offshore supply vessel Capt. Rayne had requested a medevac after the explosion.

The fire has since been contained and the two workers suffering from burns were airlifted by helicopter to Baton Rouge General Hospital.

The US Coast Guard is currently investigating the cause of the explosion.
