Iran's Petroleum Minister Gholamhoseyn Nowzari stated here on Monday, May 4, that President Mahmud Ahmadinezhad will inaugurate four national oil projects within the next weeks.
Talking to the Mehr News Agency he said the projects consist of Aqajari gas-injection station, Iran-Alborz semi-floating [semi-submersible] oil platforms, Arya Sasol petrochemical complex, and Mehr petrochemical complex.
He added that the Iran-Alborz semi-floating [semisubmersible] oil platforms are a drilling operation in the Caspian Sea. Iran-Alborz is one of the most advanced semi-floating drilling rigs and is made by Iran Marine Industrial Co (SADRA).
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) invested $400 million in semisubmersible rigs that can operate at water depths of up to 1,030 meters and drill down to 1,000 meters under the seabed, Nowzari added.
He went on to say that the rig weighs 14,000 tons without its attachments and 120 experts will work on it. It will facilitate exploration in deep waters in southern parts of the Caspian Sea.
About the Aqajari project, Nowzari said that a 500-km pipeline as been laid for transferring produced gas from South Pars gas fields to Aqajari oil fields.
"Aqajari oil field holds about 10 billion barrels of oil, which after gas injection is projected to produce an additional 2.1bn barrels in a 25-year timeframe," he stated.
