MMS Recognizes PSN for Outstanding Safety Performance
Production Services Network (PSN) has been recognized with two awards by the U.S. Minerals Management Service for outstanding safety performance -- a Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE) award to its Grasso Production Management division, and an Offshore Leadership Award given to Wayne Broussard, PSN's manager of training.
PSN's Grasso division, nominated in the production contractor category by MMS' New Orleans district, was recognized by the SAFE program for conducting operations in a safe manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements, employing trained and motivated personnel and enhancing safe operations.
Broussard, who heads PSN's state-of-the-art training center in Lafayette, La., received an award for the effective use of his widely circulated "Now You Know" newsletter to improve safety and environmental performance. He has worked in the energy industry for 24 years, and has created, developed and taught dozens of safety-related courses throughout his career. He recently obtained certification to teach the Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) course.
The awards will be presented at a luncheon on May 7 as part of the annual Offshore Technology Conference in Houston.
"We are pleased to have been recognized by the MMS for our efforts to ensure our employees are knowledgeable, well-trained and adhere to all the appropriate rules and regulations that govern our industry," said Zeffrey Lucas, president of PSN's operations in the Americas. "Safety is integrated into all of our company processes, and our passion for safety extends to everyone who may be affected by our activities."
The SAFE award program was established by MMS in 1983 to recognize and honor companies that make a concerted effort to train and motivate their employees to conduct offshore operations in a safe and environmentally sound manner. The agency recognizes both high and moderate activity levels of production in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Drilling and production contractors with exemplary OCS performance are also recognized.
Winners are selected by each district office on the basis of their safety performance and compliance with applicable regulations within the district during the rating period.
The Offshore Leadership Awards are presented to outstanding individuals whose exceptional performance has raised the bar for safety achievement, improved environmental protection, enhanced resource recovery and conservation, or inspired innovation and outstanding performance by others.
