Nexen Drills Two Successful Wells on Block 51 in Yemen

Nexen has successfully drilled the Tammum-1 and Amir-1 exploration wells on Block 51, located immediately west of the company's Masila Block 14. Nexen operates Block 51 and holds an 87.5% working interest.

Tammum-1 encountered 33 feet of net pay in the Qishn and Saar horizons and is currently being production tested. Amir-1 encountered 38 feet of net pay and will be tested in the near future. The company is currently drilling a third prospect located 25 kilometers northwest of Amir. Plans are underway for an accelerated 3D seismic acquisition and an appraisal drilling program to assess the significance of these discoveries.

"These successes, together with additional exploration opportunities we see on Block 51, should help sustain our production from Yemen," commented Charlie Fischer, Nexen's President and CEO.
