StatoilHydro Gets Go-Ahead to Drill South of Snorre in Block 34/7

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted StatoilHydro ASA a drilling permit for wellbore 34/7-34 A, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

The drilling program for wellbore 34/7-34 A relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in production license 089. The well will be drilled from the Borgland Dolphin semisubmersible drilling rig at position 61 degrees 23'22.4" North and 02 degrees 08'32.3" East, after completion of the appraisal well 34/7-34.

The area in this production license consists of block 34/7, south of the Snorre field and northeast of the Vigdis field in the North Sea.

StatoilHydro ASA is the operator with a 41.5% ownership interest. The other licensees are Petoro AS with 30%, ExxonMobil with 10.5%, Idemitsu with 9.6%, Total with 5.6% and RWE Dea with 2.8%.

The drilling permit has been granted on the condition that all other permits and consents required by other authorities have been secured before the drilling activity commences.
