MIS Cuts Steel for One of MENAdrill's Two Contracted Jackups

UAE-based MIS held the official steel cutting ceremony today for Hull 109, one of two offshore jackup drilling rigs contracted in September last year to Gulf-based MENAdrill, in a US $364 million contract for two rigs, thus marking the start of construction on MIS' sixth new-build jackup rig.

Hull 109 is another Friede and Goldman (F&G) Super Mod 2 design and is scheduled for delivery in Q3 2010 with its sister rig, Hull 110, scheduled for delivery in Q4 2010.

The steel cutting ceremony was attended by representatives from Noble Denton Middle East, the strategic partner representing MENAdrill on the project team, officials from ABS Middle East, MIS senior management and Hull 109's project team

MENAdrill is the US $3 billion offshore drilling and services company launched by Bahrain's First Energy Bank in September 2008 to focus on offshore exploration and development drilling in the GCC, North Africa and South East Asia.
