Global Tubing Opens New Coiled Tubing Complex in Texas

Global Tubing's state-of-the-art manufacturing and service complex in Dayton, Texas has begun producing coiled tubing. Formed in April 2007 to meet growing worldwide demand for coiled tubing products and related services, Global Tubing manufactures the widest selection of coil tubing in the industry. Sizes range from 3/4-inch to 5-inch OD, with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.080 to 0.337 inches. The Company is also capable of providing a broad array of testing, repair and other services to users of coiled tubing.

Situated on 61 acres only 45 minutes from central Houston, Global Tubing's five-building campus includes a corporate headquarters, two mill operations buildings with laboratory facilities to ensure product quality and promote continued innovation, and two service operations
and training facilities. An onsite electrical substation provides clean, uninterruptible power direct from the primary transmission lines. The facility features easy rail access and is convenient to major highways and the Port of Houston.

In keeping with its focus on advanced technology, Global Tubing employs a patent-pending friction stir welding process to join strip ends. Rodney Bond, the Company's vice president -- operations, explained, "The fatigue life of a string of coiled tubing is reduced by the use of conventional arc welding techniques. Friction stir welding addresses this issue. The base material is softened by frictional heat into a plastic state and “stirred” together without the  necessity of filler material. Benefits of this step-change technology include improved fatigue life, better joint reliability and less susceptibility to galvanic corrosion. Additionally, the friction stir welding process is inherently safer and has none of the adverse environmental effects of the traditional arc weld.” Bond continued, “In addition to friction stir welding, the Company also employs the latest tube milling, inspection and service technology available today."

Global Tubing provides the most comprehensive customer service in the industry.

"Standard service capabilities include complete spooling, inspection, internal/external cleaning, corrosion protection, repair, welding, nitrogen purge, hydrotesting, installation of fittings/ accessories and wireline installation," according to Doug Wheeler, the Company's vice president -- sales and marketing. Wheeler continued, "Additionally, customer asset management services are available to promote optimum coil tubing condition and utilization while lowering the total cost of ownership. Specially trained personnel inventory, store and maintain customer assets to ensure they are ready for immediate shipment when required."

All of the above is possible by assembling a team of dedicated, experienced professionals who are among the best in the industry. With over 20 team members currently, Global Tubing personnel have an aggregate of 211 years coiled tubing manufacturing and service experience. Several members of the Global Tubing team participated in the founding and start-up of the other two coiled tubing manufacturers.
