Expro Snags Well Testing Contract Extension for Major Kazak Field
International oilfield service company Expro has been awarded a three-year contract extension from Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) to continue well testing services on the Karachaganak field in western Kazakhstan, one of the world’s largest oil and gas condensate fields. Expro was awarded the initial contract in 2005 which will now be extended until October 2011.
The contract involves provision of well testing services, including use of the Megaflow separator for well clean-up, slickline, memory cased hole production log testing (PLT), calipers and gauges, along with sampling services. In addition, the company will deliver radial cutting torch (RCT) services.
Abdallah Awara, director of Expro’s Europe/Former Soviet Union region, said, "We are very happy to have been awarded the three-year extended contract with KPO. The company has been working in the Karachaganak field since the mid 1990s and this award shows Expro’s sustained commitment to the development and demonstrates continued high demand for our services."
The introduction of the Megaflow separator, a unique high pressure, high flowrate separator vessel for production testing operations, allows all produced fluids to be sent directly to the process facilities rather than being burned.
This is a major achievement in KPO’s objective of flareless testing. The use of Expro’s Megaflow technology in this application was recognised last month by being commended in the BG Group Chief Executive Awards. Expro was commended in the ‘Enhanced Working Practice’ category which rewards innovative applications, solutions and thinking which have had a positive impact on BG Group’s business.
