The DNV Global Risk Centre was established to meet a global demand for risk based asset management services. Located in Hyderabad, it will consist of 60 highly qualified consultants with backgrounds in engineering and business administration as well as environmental sciences, aiming at mitigating the increasing number of major incidents in international oil and gas industry.
The DNV Global Risk Centre will support the Indian energy sector with risk management services. The primary focus areas are Quantitative Risk Assessment, Performance Forecasting and Asset Integrity Management services. The Centre will also support DNV’s global operations towards the energy industry.
"We are constantly looking for opportunities to work smarter, and to take a global view when resourcing projects. The DNV Global Risk Centre at Hyderabad will contribute to more efficient deployment of resources on key projects as well as enabling us to serve customers across the globe more effectively as a result of the access to increased global consulting capacity," said DNV Energy COO, Remi Eriksen.
Serving Key Projects in India
The centrer is currently working on key projects in the area of Quantitative Risk Assessment with ONGC, a floating LNG facility in Europe and a Risk Based Inspection program for a major North American oil company among others. The center also currently provides support to DNV units in Norway and USA.
DNV Global Risk Centre Director Stephen Shaw said, "By establishing this centre we aim to conduct risk assessments more efficiently. We are working on projects with key customers in India and other global markets to deliver global standard risk assessment services. We chose consultants with a strong background and with the proper values and mindset to work in DNV. Subsequently, they received one of the most comprehensive training sessions in DNV to date."
India ranks fifth in the world in total energy consumption and the demand for energy has grown at a phenomenal pace, driven by the rapidly growing economy and resultant industrialization. This growth has resulted in an increasing appreciation on the importance of risk mitigation and the need for high-level risk management advice in the Indian energy sector.
All consultants at the center have undergone a stringent training program in accordance with DNV's global standards covering the general principles of risk assessment, use of DNV's specialist software as well as more standard introductory elements.
