BJ Services Company has appointed John Anderson as its new region well services vice president for Europe and West Africa. In his new role, he will be working closely with country managers throughout the region to oversee all well services operations, marketing initiatives and financial management. With 28 years of experience in the oilfield service industry, he brings an in-depth knowledge of well services engineering, technical operations and management.
Anderson, 49, launched his career in the oil industry in 1980 with Dowell-Schlumberger where he served in a variety of engineering roles in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In 1993 Anderson began working as a drilling engineer and supervisor for the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand (ECNZ) in Taupo, New Zealand, until joining BJ Services in 1995. For the next eight years he worked as country operations manager in Indonesia. Prior to this recent promotion, Anderson served for five years as country manager for BJ Services in Australia.
A native of New Zealand, Anderson reports to Alasdair Buchanan, vice president-International Pressure Pumping Services for BJ Services in Houston, Texas. A longstanding member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Anderson is based at the company’s region headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland.
"As we continue to strengthen our relationships with well services customers in Europe and West Africa, John's international management experience in well services makes him the ideal candidate for the job," said Buchanan. "With his in-depth knowledge of BJ's operations, finance, business development, and commitment to safety, I am confident that he will successfully guide the company's efforts in the region throughout the years to come," he added.
