Northern Offshore reported that a small fire had broken out on the Energy Enhancer jackup rig owned by an affiliate of Northern Offshore. The rig was operating in the UK Sector of the North Sea.

No injuries were sustained and the fire was contained and extinguished by the onboard fire control team.

"We are very pleased that no one was injured during this incident," said Fred Brooks, Senior Vice President of Operations for Northern Offshore, "and at no time was there any risk to the well the rig was working on at the time."

While thirty-four members of the rig crew were evacuated as a precautionary measure, the Company expects to return to normal operations within a few days.
