Petrobras Says Oil Leak at Fazenda Belem Field Repaired
Petrobras said that 7,000 liters of oil has spilled from a production line at the FZB-71 well, in the Fazenda Belem oilfield, in the municipality of Aracati-CE, located near the border of Ceara and Rio Grande do Norte states. The accident was caused by the disruption of a joint sleeve connected to the producing well.
Immediately upon notification of the oil leak Petrobras implemented its contingency plan and notified the state environmental authorities, and the ANP.
The oil leak covered and area of approximately 70 meters by 90 meters and has been completely cleaned. The leak did not occur near any populated areas.
An internal commission for evaluating the causes of disruption has been created. Production has returned to normal.
