Woodside Drills Duster with Gnarlyknots Well

Woodside Petroleum reports that the well Gnarlyknots-1A has been plugged and abandoned at a total depth of 4,736 meters. The well was located approximately 325 kilometers off the southern Australian coast in an area known as the Great Australian Bight in 1,500 meters of water. The Joint Venture has elected not to further deepen the well to the planned total depth of 5,600 meters, due to deteriorating weather conditions. The drill ship Glomar Jack Ryan has now departed the Gnarlyknots-1A well location.

Woodside is the operator of EPP29 and holds a 40% interest. Other participants are EnCana Corporation with 30% and Anadarko Australia Company PTY LTD with 30%.
