Keppel Shipyard, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, reported today that the Company has secured two contracts worth US $103 million (S$150 million) for the upgrading, modification and conversion of two vessels. Work on the vessels is expected to commence immediately.
Single Buoy Moorings Inc. (SBM) awarded Keppel the first contract for the upgrading and conversion of the 255,272 dwt tanker MT Accord into the P-57 FPSO. The FPSO will be deployed in Petrobras' deepwater Jubarte field in Brazil's Campos Basin and have a production capacity of 180,000 bopd and 71 million cf/d of natural gas.
The contract includes hull and marine conversion, spread mooring aids installation, accommodation block extensions/refurbishment, fabrication and installation of marine pipe rack, topside module supports, and part of the topside modules installation. The FPSO is expected to sail from Keppel Shipyard in the last quarter of 2009 to Brazil, where the remainder of the work (65% of the contract) will be completed.
Production from the Jubarte field is currently under way in a Long-Duration Test from the FPSO JK (P-34). A pre-salt field in the Campos Basin, Jubarte is off the southern coast of Espirito Santo.
Awarded by Golar LNG, the second contract involves the conversion of the Golar Winter from a Membrane LNG Carrier into a Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU). To be completed in the second quarter of 2009, the FSRU Golar Winter contract includes the installation of a re-gasification plant system, as well as the upgrade of control systems, electrical systems and marine systems.
The FSRU Golar Winter will have the capacity to re-gasify 14 million cubic meters of natural gas a day. The vessel will be operated by Petrobras and moored at a pier in the Guanabara Bay offshore Rio de Janiero.
Keppel recently delivered the world’s first FSRU, the Golar Spirit, to Golar LNG. The Golar Spirit, which is also operated by Petrobras, is moored at the Port of Pecem in northeast Brazil.
