BP: Production Expected to Restart Over the Next Week

BP is re-manning oil and natural gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and inspections are ongoing.

BP expects to progressively restart production facilities over the next week subject to availability of the export infrastructure.

Overflights and visual inspections show minimal damage to most platforms and no obvious signs of oil spills or sheens attributable to BP operations.

The most significant damage appears to be to the Mad Dog spar which was directly in Hurricane Ike's path. Mad Dog's drilling derrick, which sits atop the platform, was toppled and is on the sea bed. Assessments are ongoing to understand the full extent of damage and implications to the restart of production from Mad Dog.
