Tropical Storm Gustav

Shell noted that Hurricane Gustav has weakened and, as of this posting, is a tropical storm. Predictions are that it will gain strength and become a hurricane again, possibly entering the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.

Given that, Shell began evacuating personnel not essential to producing and drilling operations in the Gulf. The Company expects to bring in around 300 people today. These evacuations will have no impact on production.

Shell's priorities are ensuring the safety of personnel, protecting the environment and minimizing production and operational impact. To find out more about our hurricane preparedness and evacuation and shut in procedures, please visit the Shell Storm Center.

Shell will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond to further developments.
