BEIJING (Dow Jones Newswires), August 22, 2008

China imported 13.79 million metric tons of crude oil in July, equivalent to an average of 3.26 million barrels a day, the General Administration of Customs said Friday.

July imports were down 7% from the same month in 2007, when China shipped in 14.83 million tons of crude.

The figures confirmed preliminary data issued by the customs bureau earlier this month.
