Stone Energy Hits in U.S. Gulf

Stone Energy announced that the D-2 well on its Narwhal Prospect on Eugene Island 243 has logged pay in two sands in a previously untested fault block. The planned total depth has not yet been reached, however, logs run at 14,597 feet indicate two productive intervals: a massive sand with 123 net feet of gas and 33 net feet of oil and an additional 135 foot gross interval of laminated, low resistivity sand comparable to gas productive section in adjacent fault blocks.. The D-2 well is being drilled by Pride Offshore's, Pride Alaska and after completion of the D-2 well a delineation well will be drilled. Plans are currently underway to install a new platform and production facility in May 2001.
