Hauk Prospect Comes Up Dry

StatoilHydro has completed the drilling of a well in the Hauk prospect in the Norwegian Sea. The well was dry.

The purpose of the well was to explore the potential for hydrocarbons in Mid and Lower Jurassic sandstones in the Hauk prospect. The prospect is located 15 kilometers northeast of the Norne field.

Exploration well 6608/11-6 was drilled to a total depth of 1828 meters below the sea level and completed in Lower Jurassic rocks. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.

The drilling was performed by the Ocean Vanguard drilling unit in 379 meters of water. Ocean Vanguard will now sail to the North Sea where it will drill exploration well 34/7-33 for StatoilHydro.
