IDS Inks Contract with Premier Oil to Implement Datanet2
IDS has announced a new contract with Premier Oil's Group Drilling Division. The contract is one of the first to implement the new IDS DataNet2 rich internet applications, which are being rolled out gradually to all Premier assets.
The three-year global-services contract is an extension of the existing global contract with Premier, which IDS has held since 1998.
Tim Hanson, Premier’s group drilling manager, is very open to DataNet2, and for good reason: "IDS has set the corporate standard for drilling data reporting for Premier for the past decade. Adopting DataNet2, the new generation of products from IDS, and all its benefits for our operations, is a logical and advantageous step for us to take. We believe IDS to have the best supported software in the industry, with technical back-up available 24/7."
From DataNet2, the Premier contract is focusing initially upon DrillNet (drilling reporting services) and GeoNet (geological reporting services). Premier is also currently reviewing StockNet, the IDS inventory and asset management services product, in its Vietnam operations.
Premier has options too on three further Datanet2 products: ProNet for completions reporting; SafeNet that focuses upon the environmental and HSE aspects of drilling; and VisNet for data visualisation and analysis. These stand-alone yet complementary IDS products are all rich internet applications.
Tim Hanson added, "The way in which IDS products deliver management operations consistently to key managers simply and on time will continue and be enhanced by our use of DataNet2 products. This, coupled with the knowledge that IDS is a secure repository for all Premier’s drilling data/records, makes our working together a very positive experience."
