Gunmen Kidnap Five Oil Workers Off Bonny, Southern Nigeria

LAGOS (Dow Jones Newswires), July 25, 2008

Unknown gunmen Friday kidnapped five oil workers off Bonny in southern Nigeria, security and industry sources said.

"Eleven people, including Russians and Filipinos were initially seized with their vessel," a senior security official told AFP. "Six of them were released early this morning with the vessel while the kidnappers held back five others."

An industry source said the men were seized by gunmen in speedboats.
