Leiv Eiriksson Recieves AOC from PSA Norway

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway

The semisub Leiv Eiriksson recently received an Acknowledgement of Compliance.

Leiv Eiriksson received an AoC as early as April 15, 2002, however, the owner of the rig, Ocean Rig, previously informed the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway that they did not wish to continue the efforts to keep the AoC updated while the facility was in operation outside the Norwegian Shelf.

The Acknowledgement of Compliance system was made mandatory for mobile drilling facilities on January 1, 2004. This means that this type of facility must receive an approved AoC before it can operate on the Norwegian Shelf.

After having considered Ocean Rig’s new application, the PSA granted a new AoC to the Leiv Eiriksson.
