MMS Appoints Saucier to Head GOM Field Operations

Minerals Management Service (MMS) Gulf of Mexico Regional Director, Lars Herbst, has selected Mike Saucier as the new Regional Supervisor for Field Operations.

"Mike Saucier brings a wealth of technical expertise and knowledge to this position. I am certain that Saucier can ensure that industry's commitment to excellent safety and environmental performance continues," said Herbst.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University, Saucier began his career with the MMS in 1984 as a staff engineer in the MMS’s Houma, La. District where he worked on production and drilling issues. In 1988, he became the Drilling Engineer and in 1995, he was promoted to the position of District Supervisor, Houma District in the Gulf of Mexico. Most recently, he served as Deputy Regional Supervisor for District Operations in the Field Operations Office.

As Regional Supervisor for Field Operations, Saucier oversees a staff of 170 engineers, geoscientists, technicians, inspectors, and clerical who are responsible for safe and environmentally responsible oil and gas operations throughout the Gulf of Mexico Region.
