Aker Solutions has acquired a fabrication business in the north-east of Scotland in a strategic move to augment its services to local clients.
The purchase of Portlethen-based PSV Solutions will enable Aker Solutions to provide a modern fabrication facility in support of local projects, for which there is a growing demand. The business will become part of Aker Solutions' Aberdeen-based operations.
Rod Buchan, Managing Director of Aker Solutions' offshore services, said: "This acquisition will help us maximise the value we add to our clients," said Rod Buchan, Managing Director of Aker Solutions. "High quality fabrication is fundamental to successful project and contract delivery and this acquisition is a long-term benefit to our clients. We are also excited about creating additional local jobs as we seek to expand our new facility."
PSV Solutions was established in 2006 as a specialist business focusing on structural fabrication, carbon and exotic steels pipework, aluminium fabrications and vessels. It has an enviable client base of leading energy service companies and operates with 22 people from a 700mē facility at Badentoy Industrial Estate.
Buchan continued: "PSV is an ideal acquisition for us in terms of our growth strategy, providing the means to streamline and optimise our offering to existing and new clients. We have a great deal of confidence in the existing management team to carry forward the business and to continue to live up to the reputation for quality and delivery that PSV Solutions has achieved. The new addition to Aker Solutions undoubtedly gives us a local edge in terms of possessing a small-to-medium fabrication facility in support of our key activities.
"We are committed to maintaining and enhancing the existing relationships PSV has with its existing client base. At the same time, we will be channelling PSV's skills and experience into our ongoing projects and modifications contracts. This acquisition is all about enhancing the services we provide to all our clients and we see significant opportunities to grow the fabrication business."
