Shell has resumed production from its Soroosh Field offshore Iran. The company had shut-in production earlier in March due to U.S. military action against Iraq. Production from the Soroosh Field is currently at 60,000 barrels per day, but is expected to reach 100,000 barrels per day by the end of 2003. A Shell spokesman said that after constant assessment, the company concluded that it was safe to restart production operations. Workers have returned to the Nowrooz field as well. First production from the Nowrooz field is expected to begin during the fourth quarter of 2003, with output estimated at 90,000 barrels per day.
