George Watson, Managing Director for CorrOcean Ltd in Aberdeen said "We have been positioning ourselves to be recognized as the oil industry's preferred asset assurance partner over the last two years and I am delighted that our expertise, capabilities and initiative has been recognized by the award of this contract. The Caspian region is a key component of our strategy to build our business worldwide and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with BP in this and other projects around the world."
CorrOcean Ltd will be assisted in providing the services by their major sub contractor, CAN Offshore Ltd. Both companies entered into a co-operation agreement earlier last year to enable a total solution approach to integrity and inspection contracts.
The contract will be managed from CorrOcean's Aberdeen office with an operations support team based in Baku and a project support team based in Aberdeen and London. Mark Wilson has been appointed Project Director. It is expected that there will be significant recruitment opportunities in Aberdeen and Baku as a result of the contract.
The contract covers existing operating facilities and the development projects. This combination is an innovative approach by BP, the operator of world-class development projects in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, and will enable CorrOcean to ensure that asset integrity is appropriately addressed at all stages of the developments.
