The field, which was part of a package of upstream developments purchased from Swedish independent Lundin Oil in 2001, will be pumped to the Samah oilfield complex through a new 100-kilometer pipeline.
Reserve estimates for the field are not available. However, it is estimated to contain approximately 85 - 10 million barrels. The initial production estimate has been revised down from higher figures in past years. Petro-Canada has not given any estimates for peak or plateau output, but the facilities allow for greater capacity production.
Petro-Canada operates the field through a local subsidiary together with Libya's National Oil Company (NOC).
