Santos had to shut down the Moonie-to-Brisbane pipeline on Tuesday following an oil spill of approximately 7,000 barrels in Queensland state near Santos' Lytton terminal. The company said that this spill would not affect production at the Cooper/Eromanga Basin. "The pipeline was immediately shut-in. The spillage has been contained and booms have been placed in the local storm water drain to protect waterways," Santos said.
Oil from this terminal supplies BP's Bulwer Island refinery and Caltex's refinery in Brisbane. The leak is expected to be repaired this week and there should be no impact on production.
