Kerr-McGee reports that another successful appraisal well has been drilling on Block 05/36 offshore China in Bohai Bay. The CFD12-1-2 well was drilled by China Offshore Northern Drilling Company's jackup, Bohai VII to a depth of 6,896 feet in 90 feet of water. The well tested more than 2,700 barrels per day of 26-34 api gravity oil. 3-D seismic surveys will begin later this month on the CFD 12-1, CFD 11-1 fields and on adjacent exploration prospects. The results of the survey will be used to determine the extent of the reservoirs and locate other appraisal wells so that the size of the CFD 12-1 field can be determined. Kerr-McGee will carry out additional appraisal and exploration drilling in this area in 2001.
