Petrobras Reaches Agreement with Families of P-36 Victims

Petrobras executed an agreement this week with the widows and dependents of the employees who died in the P-36 accident providing for indemnity for property and pain and suffering.

The agreement results from the determination of the new Petrobras management, which, in two and a half months, closed the issue that was pending for two years. Legal proceedings of this nature usually take about 15 years or more to be completed.

The decision also reflects the orientation of the Brazilian government to prioritize social and human rights issues.

Considering the issue's magnitude, Petrobras resolved to pay the indemnity in one single installment. The legislation allows for the payment to the beneficiaries for life.
