Ajumogobia: Nigeria Will Hit 4 Million bbl/d by 2010

Nigerian Oil Minister Odein Ajumogobia told AFP March 31 that his country will be able to meet the production target of 4 million bbl/d by 2010.

"I admit it's ambitious, but it's feasible," said Ajumogobia. "I say it's feasible because the additional one million barrels that we are not producing is because of the security issue we have in the Niger Delta and technical and funding issues, which we are trying to address."

Nigeria, Africa's largest oil producer, has seen quite a bit of violence in the oil-rich Delta, such as the kidnappings offshore Onda that took place March 29, yet the country continues to press forward and court foreign companies for possible ventures, as well as the strengthening of current ones.
