Subsea 7 Awarded Contract for Sul Capixaba Pipeline Project

Subsea 7 Inc has been awarded a contract valued in excess of US $200 million by Petrobras (Petroleo Brasileiro S/A) for an EPIC contract, in the Espirito Santo Basin offshore Brazil.

The contract will involve the design, engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of the 78 km Sul Capixaba 12-in. Export Gas Pipeline and end termination assembly in the Jubarte field. The project also involves the execution of a horizontally drilled shore approach and pre commissioning. The gas export pipeline will eventually connect the FPSO P-57 in the deepwater Jubarte field to the Petrobras onshore installation in Anchieta, Espirito Santo.

The offshore pipeline installation campaign will take place during 2009 and will be carried out by one of Subsea 7's pipeline installation vessels. The project will be completed during 2010.

All engineering and project management work will be conducted at Subsea 7's offices, in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the fabrication of the rigid pipeline will be carried out at Subsea 7 spoolbase Ubu, Brazil.

Victor Bomfim, Vice President for Subsea 7 in Brazil commented, "We are delighted to have been chosen to undertake this scope of work by Petrobras. It once again demonstrates Subsea 7's expertise and capability as an EPIC contractor in subsea field development and reinforces our position as the Subsea Partner of Choice in the region."

The Jubarte Field, discovered in 2001, is located about 80km off the Espirito Santo State coast, South East Brazil in water depths of between 1,000 and 1,500m.
