Rex Names Pratt VP and Exploration Manager
Rex Energy Corporation announced the appointments of David Pratt as its Vice President and Exploration Manager and Sean Brake as its Appalachian Basin Completions Manager.
Mr. Pratt will lead the company's exploration, geological and geophysical activities from Rex Energy's corporate headquarters located in State College, Pennsylvania. Mr. Pratt will report directly to William L. Ottaviani, Rex Energy's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Pratt has over 30 years experience as a senior geologist working on projects located throughout the United States. His most recent private exploration and development experience includes almost nine years with Cabot Oil and Gas working in the Appalachian Basin. Specific work included the Oriskany, Knox, Onondaga and Trenton-Black River plays, as well as the Devonian Shale and Devonian/Carboniferous sandstone in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He also gained substantial working knowledge in the Appalachian Front of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Tennessee.
Prior to his Cabot Oil and Gas work, Mr. Pratt gained extensive experience while employed with Texaco in West Texas; Sohio Petroleum in Colorado, Nevada and Utah; Ensource and Enstar in the western U.S.; and Ultramar in Texas and the Rocky Mountain areas. Mr. Pratt obtained his B.S. degree in Geology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany, NY and earned an M.A. degree in Geology from Rice University in Houston.
Mr. Sean Brake is joining Rex Energy as its Appalachian Basin Completions Manager. From the company's Appalachian Basin district office located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Brake will manage the company's well completion activities in the Appalachian Basin, including the completion of Marcellus Shale wells. Mr. Brake will report to Michael S. Carlson, Rex Energy's Vice President and Appalachian Basin District Manager.
Mr. Brake has over 15 years experience in the energy industry. Following assignments with Chevron and Unocal, his most recent assignment was with Halliburton as a project manager, principal technical professional, and completions engineer. Mr. Brake has substantial experience working in projects across the U.S., including assignments in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. His specialized technical focus is in the areas of completion systems, production enhancement, sand control, zonal isolation, and tool development with respect to design and operational techniques. Mr. Brake earned his B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College and currently serves on the college's Industry Advisory Committee.
