Laser Cladding Services (LCS) has added Eswar Yarrapareddy, PhD, to the team to serve as the company's laser cladding development engineer. Yarrapareddy's appointment supports the company's goal of being at the pinnacle of continued leadership and research to develop and evolve the laser coating industry.

"His background, academically and within the industry, is stellar."
As development engineer for LCS, Yarrapareddy supervises the development of laser cladding processes using CO2, diode laser and fiber lasers to apply a variety of materials used for coating within the energy industry. With more than six years of industrial and research experience in laser materials processing, metallurgy and materials science, he has worked extensively in process optimization and control of laser cladding and E-Beam direct metal deposition.
During his career, Yarrapareddy developed nano-based surface coatings resistant to slurry erosion by laser cladding. In addition to being published in several reputed national and international journals, he was most recently published in Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention with a paper entitled, "Numerical Simulation and Characterization of Slurry Erosion of Laser Cladded Surfaces." He also serves as a technical reviewer for the Journal of Surfaces and Coatings Technology.
Prior to joining LCS, Yarrapareddy served as a research assistant at both Southern Methodist University and the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. He also assisted in the failure analysis and quality assurance of offshore drilling structures and methods as a project engineer for Jindall Drilling & Industries, Ltd., in Mumbai, India.
A recipient of prestigious 2006 Arthur F. Focke LeaderShape award from ASM International, Yarrapareddy holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from JNT University in India, a Master of Science in Material Science and Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. He is a member of The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society of Materials.
