Sulzer Wood Achieves ISO 14001 Environmental Certification

Sulzer Wood Limited, a joint venture between John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group") and Sulzer Pumps UK, based in Ellon, Scotland, has been awarded certification to the prestigious international environmental ISO 14001:2004 standard by NQA.

Graham Glen, General Manager of Sulzer Wood, a major provider of pump and compressor services in the North Sea, said: "We are delighted to have gained ISO 14001 certification, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Sulzer Wood. This achievement clearly demonstrates our firm commitment to developing and maintaining an effective environmental management system, which covers issues ranging from identifying and minimizing risks to the environment across our operations, to continuously improving our environmental performance. The certification also provides us with a valuable market differentiator with our oil & gas industry customers, for whom management of environmental impacts is of key importance."

Sulzer Wood commenced the path to certification in August 2007 with the appointment of internal "Green Teams" comprising staff from all areas of the business. The teams were empowered to identify and address all aspects of the business which impact on the environment, and through the efforts of the teams, supported by the entire workforce, the certification has been achieved in just five months.
