Cecon Lays Down $7.4M for Pipelaying Equipment

Cecon has placed a NOK 38 million (U.S. $7.4 million) contract for major pipelaying equipment, including a 200t tensioner from SAS in Gouda, Holland for delivery in the first quarter of 2009.

The equipment will be utilized as part of Cecon's new Deepwater Pipelaying System, which will be operational together with delivery of first new-building from Davie Yards Inc. in the second quarter of 2009.

The new equipment, combined with Cecon's existing portfolio of modular lay-equipment, will enhance Cecon's capabilities in the mid- to deepwater segment. Combined with the superior cargo carrying and lifting capacity of Cecon's newbuild vessels, this move further strengthens Cecon's ability to execute heavier projects with superior efficiency.
