The directors of Nighthawk Energy plc, the US-focused hydrocarbon production and development company, are pleased to announce that the State of Kansas has given approval for the injection of fluids in the initial four injector wells at the Devon Oilfield Waterflood project in Bourbon County, Kansas. Nighthawk holds an 80 per cent. interest in the project and the operator, Running Foxes Petroleum Inc. a 20 per cent. interest.
The permits issued grant the operator, Running Foxes, the authority to inject up to a total of 1,200 barrels of fluids per day into the Bartlesville Formation at depths of between 350–500 feet for the purpose of enhanced recovery of oil on the Devon project.
The Devon Oilfield covers an area of 1,764 acres and 33 successful appraisal wells have been currently logged and cased as future producers. As previously announced, the oil in place is estimated to be in excess of 10 million barrels.
A central production well and four injection wells have been drilled and cased in a four–spot pattern within the project area. In addition, oil storage tanks, flow lines and other surface facilities are in place. Injection and test production are expected to commence within 30 days.
